Im going to offend a lot of londoners here but I was born at chase farm in 2003 and well the building at 2:34 has always been one of the coolest mcdonalds, what was it before though, I always thought as a kid it looked crazy, now I think it’s so tragic it is seeing a big conglomerate chain take over such a striking and iconic piece of architecture, I mean it’s not anything amazing but iconic by way of enfield.

its a rare sight to see a happy family in Enfield at that time . most were drunk or mentally ill and on drugs.

Moved to the area in 1995. The End house had its windows bordered up, I still remember what it said N.F! of course being 10 I never knew what the NF was, me and my mates spent years getting chased by glue sniffers

Great video and lovely memories of Enfield when people cared about where they lived. All the English shops along the Hertford Road, heartbreaking to see what has happened to it 😔

The slides at Pleasure Beach went really high up and there was really a lot of stairs to climb.

It was a different world back then. People were not walking about constantly texting each other or taking photographs on their mobile phones like today.

I’ve been to Great Yarmouth in September 2003 is over 20 previous years ago when I was aged 27 years old at the time 🕰️ and it was sunny ☀️ at the time 🕰️. It’s in east Anglia in England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. Plenty of seagulls, buses 🚌 🚍 🚎, trains 🚂 🚆 🚊 , cars 🚗 🚘 🚙 , people and it’s good 👍 fun 🤩 there. The ITV region is called Anglia Television 📺. Train 🚊 🚆 🚂 company in 2024 is called GA - Greater Anglia. There are plenty of platforms at Great Yarmouth railway 🚃 station 🚉. 👍 🏝️ 🏖️

Wonderful. Do you have any still pics? Re: Brick Lane location. A little further along is the hump over the railway. (Southbury --> Turkey St section) Just on the other side of the hump, on the north side, used to be a shop. I have vague memories. My nan lived on Hammond Road. Story has it she took her accumulator there to get it re-charged. On Google maps you can still see a cinder block outline where it used to be.

The old marina centre, two lane drag strip along the seafront, Tiffany's and The Longbar. So many great memories from a youth misspent in Yarmouth on many a friday or saturday night.

Clipsbyme please can you help? My Great Uncle attended Theobalds College according to the 1881 Census. Most history does not record its being a school or college that early. Can you direct me anywhere as it is a mystery how he was there prior to joining the Royal Navy.

I spent several evenings in The Plough with my Dad during 76-77. Shocked when it got pulled down. I go past once or twice a year and the flats on the site still look wrong. Fortunately I moved away 40 years ago as the whole area has now pretty much collapsed. I also remember a Co-op being where Burger King is. Never drank enough Stella to get drunk but two or three pints is enough to give me a headache. Weird so could be an allergy.

So glad there`s footage of that slide, only ever found a photo online, could you imagine with health and safety nowdays letting a slide that big in any playground. good times.

I was trying to explain to my daughter , also comprehend myself, how these images just make you realise or sometimes we take for granted that so much history is there beneath our feet even when at home. Also you just see these people they were us just driving up the lane in 50's be it the 1800's on horseback where we are now. Its just amazing. Thank you!

Such great footage. I miss the massive coop. My fathers dry cleaning shop can be seen opposite the coop, the orange place. Such good memories. I used to love the cheese cake they did at greggs, also the apple danish with almonds on top.

Many thanks for uploading. This video is very special to me as I was born in the mid 80s and grew up in forty hall grounds itself. I used to live in that very lodge until around 2000/01. I think 2000. The Lodge however will always have a special place in my heart. Unfortunately, there wasn't anything of the Lodge or Forty Hall park. Good job all the same. The 80s and 90s around that area were the best years of my childhood. Life was so much simpler back then. What day was this? by the way.

What is the yodeling song towards the end? It's instrumental backdrop seems to be Wonderland by the Shadows but the words are quite intriguing - and Wonderland is an instrumental track.
